This year will see the return of a Fireworks Display in Whithorn. The event has been organised by a group of volunteers and through successful funding applications and well supported fundraising events they are ready to put on a brilliant display.
The group have all the Insurances and Licences in place and are eagerly anticipating a record crowd.
Various sales and a bottle stall will be present (under cover) as will the opportunity to purchase hot food.
Fund-raising coordinator, Billy Dodds said: “The community of Whithorn deserve a great Fireworks Display, we missed out last year but we are back and we will put on a display that is bigger and better than before.
We have had so much support from the community to bring back the Fireworks Display and this was clear to see from the support we got during the events we organised over the last six months with every donation or offer of assistance being gratefully received.
I would like to thank some other donators, including Wigtown Area Committee Galloway, the Galloway Association of Glasgow and Newton Stewart and District Round Table, who donated significant cash donations to our event.
We are hoping for a good turn out and the weather being on our side, so please come along to our event on 7 November, fun starts at 7pm.”
The location of the bonfire and release of the fireworks has not changed, however the viewing area has. This is now located on the large grass area next to Whithorn Fire Station.
