Kirkcudbright Rotary’s five partner Primary Schools all produced teams to take part in the local round of the Rotary District 1020 Quiz.
Held at Gatehouse Primary School teams of four students answered questions on language and literacy, maths and numeracy, health and well-being, expressive arts, science, technology, social studies and religious and moral education and pot luck. Each team was assisted, but not given the answers, by a Rotarian volunteer.
After a close fought battle, the winning team this year was Gatehouse Primary School and they now go forward to the area final in Dumfries just after Easter and then, we hope, to the District final in Edinburgh in late May or early June. All the young people who took part received certificates for representing their schools from Kirkcudbright Rotary President, Colin MacLaine whilst each of the four students from the winning team received winners certificates, a new Kirkcudbright Rotary Club biro each and the Primary Schools Quiz Trophy to keep for one year.
