Pupil Beth McElrea said: “On Tuesday the 28th of June 2016 Port William primary took part in the Keep Scotland Beautiful beach clean. The beach clean took place at Second Sands beach. The day was a big success and that would not have happened without our three parent helpers, Mrs Campion, Mrs Smith and Mr Lawson. Also the enthusiastic staff and children did an amazing job and filled several bags of rubbish. The View’ (cafe on the harbour) was very kind to provide snacks and drinks for after and they were much appreciated. At the end of the day Bryce got up and did a vote of thanks and we got a gift at the end before walking back to school.”

Pupil Shannon added: “We didn’t get off to much of a strong start. Then suddenly, I turned around and we had travelled miles! I was so surprised I nearly fell over. I saw a place where there looked to be a whole load of rubbish. When we reached that spot, we filled our bag until it was just over half-full!.”
