At the end of May, ten police officers and support staff from Newton Stewart and Stranraer Police Stations climbed Cairnsmore of Fleet in aid of the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team.
Accompanied by family and friends, the climbers raised £!,345 for the GMRT.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: The GMRT charity was chosen because of the tremendous assistance and support GMRT have provided to local police over the years. Their expertise has been invaluable at times when hill walkers have fallen, people have gone missing and cyclist have been injured when out cycling in remote places etc.”
Neil Dalrymple, the team’s Fundraising Officer said: “Galloway Mountain Rescue work very closely with Police Scotland and we really appreciate the effort our police colleagues from Newton Stewart went to in organising this fundraising walk. We have significant spend later this year which directly relates to the way we communicate with the police, and other emergency services, and this donation will go directly towards that project”.
“Many thanks for a fantastic effort by everyone involved”.
