Lorna is Wigtown Week Princess

Miss Lorna Cannon from Wigtown Primary will be this year's Princess at the town's community festival which starts next Saturday, July 22.

Mrs Kirsty Andrews, Head Teacher at Wigtown Primary School will open the festival and crown the Princess and Councillor Jim McColm will commentate the day’s events.

The Festival week starts on Saturday 22nd July with the crowning of the Princess followed by the Riding of the Marches.

This year will also see the Wigtown Food Festival take place over the same weekend – Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd.

Events for the Festival Week include:

Friday 21st

Riding of the Marches Ball – 7pm at the County Buildings – all tickets sold

Saturday 22nd

12:30 Fancy Dress competition

13:00 Crowning of the Princess

13:30 Fancy Dress Prize giving

14:00 Presentation of the Ensign and commence the ride out

15:00 Return of the riders and taking of the stirrup cup

15:30 Parade of the riders around the town gardens

Sunday 23rd

19:00 Outdoor Church Service with the Creetown Silver Band – Town Gardens Marquee

Monday 24th

12 noon to 16:00 Open Bowling Afternoon

12 noon to 16:00 Scavenger Hunt – County Buildings

19:00 to 21:00 5-a-side for ages 12 plus at the MUGA

19:30 Pairs Whist at The Smiddy

Tuesday 25th

10:15 to 10:45 Rhyme time for Under 5s at the Library

14:00 to 16:00 The Road Runner – County Buildings

19:30 to 21:30 Quiz Night – County Buildings

Wednesday 26th
