Galloway Association of Glasgow winter meeting

The Rt. Rev. Dr. Gregor Duncan was the guest speaker of the Galloway Association of Glasgow’s winter meeting at Netherlee Parish Church Glasgow on Saturday 7 November 2015.

Dr Duncan is The Episcopalian Bishop of the diocese of Glasgow and Galloway – was educated at Allan Glen’s private school Glasgow – University of Glasgow where he studied History and Clare College Cambridge and it was there he felt a calling into the Ministry. He studied for the Priesthood at Ripon College Cuddesdon near Oxford and was subsequently ordained in 1984 and began his career as an assistant curate in Oakham East Midlands. Following this, he was chaplain of Edinburgh Theological College and thereafter Rector at St. Columba’s Largs and St. Ninian’s Pollokshields Glasgow.

He was Dean of Glasgow and Galloway until his elevation to The Episcopate in 2010. On 16th January 2010 he was elected Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway – he was consecrated and installed at St. Mary’s Cathedral Glasgow on 23 April 2010.

During Dr Duncan’s talk he reflected on his many visits to the ten Churches in the Galloway area which involved him travelling some 15,000 miles a year. Dr Duncan encouraged the members attending the meeting to ask any questions during his talk which he ably answered.

The vote of thanks was given by The Association’s President Angus Rex who presented Dr Duncan with a small token of our appreciation after which a light supper was served and enjoyed by those attending.
