Last Saturday, the WBA teams travelled to Seafield Bowling Green, Ayr, to play Lanarkshire South in the final of the Cities and Counties Championships.
The match got started at 2pm in very windy conditions and the Lanarkshire team took control of the match and after five ends were 14 shots up. After ten ends they were 21 shots up but in the next five ends the Wigtownshire teams got their ‘A’ game going and by 15 ends played it was Wigtownshire 79, Lanarkshire South 81. After 18 ends played Wigtownshire were one shot ahead at 91 to 90. The final few ends were very exciting, but Lanarkshire got their form back to score 36 shots to Wigtownshire’s 15 to win the championship by 125 shots to 106.
