Wigtown and Bladnoch and Newton Stewart will now clash in round two if the Tweedie Cup after both won their way through in round one on Monday night.
Newton fought out a tough battle against Lochar but went ahead through striker Robert Middleton to give them a narrow half time lead after they had been reduced to ten men when central defender Micky Wilson had been red-carded ten minutes before the break. Michael McGauchie struck for the home side to level the match before Middleton hit a second for Newton which proved to be the winner.
In the South of Scotland League Fleet Star beat Upper Annandale by five goals to one with Kevin Jamieson scoring twice for Star before Mark Leighfield drew a goal back from the penalty spot. Jamie Gray scored two goals after the re-start with Martin Niven scoring a fifth as his side went nap.
