There are four South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played this Saturday, with three of them vital to the destination of this season’s league title.
Favourites Wigtown and Bladnoch travel to Hospital Park to play Crichton in a game that could go either way.
The visitors will go into this contest as favourites to take the three points to keep their league ambitions on track but the Dumfries side are not an easy team to overcome, particularly on their own ground.
The result could be close, although an on-form Wigtown could well take the points and the plaudits.
Nithsdale Wanderers host St Cuthbert Wanderers at Sanquhar in another contest that could go close. And with both teams in with a chance of taking this season’s league honours should others slip up, a share of the points looks a distinct possibility in this contest.
League leaders Newton Stewart will be looking to keep their table-top position following their match at Blairmount Park against Abbey Vale.
In past seasons this has always been a close-run match and, although Vale have not been at their best this season, they are more than capable of causing the home side some problems.
However, Newton manager Davy Hyslop has his team performing well and they have found the route to goal this season and it would be a surprise if the Creesiders didn’t add another three points to their tally following this encounter.
Bottom-placed Creetown travel to Dumfries to play Lochar Thistle for a match that present form would suggest should end in victory for the home team.
Lochar have had an excellent start to their life in South football and are proving an asset to the league. They look too strong for the young Creetown side and will start as strong favourites to take the three points.
