There was a complete wipe out of South matches last Saturday due to the adverse weather conditions but the South Challenge Cup First Round tie between St Cuthbert Wanderers and Ann an Athletic went ahead on Friday night at St Marys Park, Kirkcudbright,
Saints flying the flag for South football went nap against the Galabank side with only two goals in reply. The home side opened the scoring after only seven minutes when Steven Degnan found the net and seven minutes later doubled the scoreline with Philip MIddlemass scoring from inside the 18 yard box.
In the 18th minute Andrew Donley gave Saints a three goal cushion which they took into the break.
On the hour mark Annan drew a goal back through Liddel but a minute later Scott Milligan restored Saints lead. With 20 minutes left to play the visitors scored their second when Ball scored but with time running out Stuart Maxwell went nap with his side’s fifth of the day to round off a very good victory for the South League side.
