THREAVE Rovers have appointed Vinnie Parker as interim player/manager of the Castle Douglas club.
Negotiations are currently ongoing with a new assistant manager from outwith the club to provide back-up for Parker, and also another coach.
After recent difficulties in finding a manager, the board is pleased that Parker, the current goalkeeper, who has professional experience, will look after team matters for the immediate future.
The club were also informed last week that they have been awarded the National Club Licence by the SFA. Threave Rovers are the first South of Scotland League club to achieve this prestigious award, joining current SFL league teams Queen of the South and Annan Athletic.
The award is as a result of the club making ground and other improvements to attain the exacting criteria for membership.
It means that Threave Rovers will continue to be a full member of the SFA in the event of league reconstruction and continue to be eligible for Scottish Cup and other national competitions.
The award also raises the profile of the South of Scotland League within the national structure in this time of proposed change within the game.
