THE Scottish women’s curling team, including Stranraer’s Vicki Adams have been knocked out of the world championships in Denmark before the playoff stages.

A record of three wins and six defeats at the round-robin stages was not good enough to progress in the tournament. The team - Anna Sloan, Claire Hamilton, Vicki, Rihann Maclead and Eve Muirhead - were disappointed not to medal, but as a young squad with most of them playing in their first ladies’ world championships it has been a steep learning curve.

Wednesday night’s 12-5 loss to the host nation had sidelined the Scots team before two more tough games yesterday against Switzerland and Norway.

Twenty-one-year-old Vicki, who lives in the Lochans, has already won gold at the World Junior Championships earlier this month in Perth, her third world junior title.

RESULTS:

Scotland 5 Czech republic 6; Scotland 7 USA 6; Scotland 3 Sweden 5; Scotland 7 Canada 3; Scotland 9 Germany 3; Scotland 2 China 8; Scotland 6 Russia 8; Scotland 3 Korea 9; Scotland 5 Denmark 12.
