VANDALS have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to a portaloos at St Mary’s Park, Kirkcudbright, the home of South of Scotland side St Cuthbert Wanderers.

Toilet fittings and sinks were smashed up in Friday evening’s attack and the outside of the building has been reduced to a wreck as doors were pulled off and windows smashed.

Norman Richardson, chairman of the club, said he received a call on Friday night to say someone had eard banging and smashing from the grounds.

He said: “By the time I got down the vandals had gone but the building was completely destroyed. We had been hoping that we could sell the portaloos on for more than £700 when our extension is finished.

“It’s just mindless vandalism and it is costing us a lot of money which we can’t afford.”

Police says they are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. They say that damage is estimated at around £700.
