The Douglas Ewart High School netball team has made it through to the quarter-finals in the Scottish Schools Cup, in the Open Silver grade.
This year the Scottish Schools Cup has the biggest entries in Netball Scotland’s history. There were 189 teams from all over Scotland playing over four age categories. The Douglas Ewart plays in the Open grade, which allows a mixture of girls from S2 upwards. The team played the first few games to be graded and achieved the Open Silver Grade. The 32 teams who made it through had to play a couple of quick rounds. The Douglas Ewart girls were lucky and had a home game against Perth Grammar and came away convincing winners. The team also won the next round due to forfeit and now are in the quarter-finals against Bishopbriggs on March 12.
The team were, left to right: Lois Campion, Morven Old, Rebecca Blakeman, Rebekah Campion, Ilise Spice, Amy Alexander, Sian Milven, Katie Landers, Siobhan Bennewith and Gigha Johnstone. They have all trained hard this year and would like to thank Mrs Anna Campion and Mrs Debbie Johnstone for the time and effort in the organising the games, travelling and umpiring. Also to the school for its ongoing support.
