Stewartry stick to winning ways

Two out of three local rugby fixtures were postponed on Saturday.

That meant Stewartry were the only team in action – and what a busy weekend it has been for the Castle Douglas club.

The first team had a convincing win away, running out victors by 48 points to 19 over Loch Lomond. This Saturday coming, January 25, will see the side hoping to continue their winning ways at home to Strathaven.

The Stewartry Sirens women’s team were hoping to clinch their league title today (Sunday) away at Grangemouth. And the under-16s were hoping for success in a cup quarter-final at Stirling County. Full details on this website when available.

Newton Stewart’s match away at GHK was called off. This week the Reds are scheduled to be at home at Bladnoch Park against Helensburgh.

Birkmyre were unable to host Wigtownshire, so that game was also cancelled. This week Wigtownshire entertain Isle of Arran at London Road.
