Penninghame Primary are celebrating this week after they took bronze in the region-wide Sportshall athletics competition.
Children from primary schools across Galloway travelled to Dumfries College on Monday to compete in the Primary Schools Regional Sportshall Athletics Finals.
Eight schools assembled teams totalling over 200 children to take part in the regional final which is an exciting indoor programme of adapted athletics activities with the winner progressing to the West of Scotland Regional Finals.
Primary schools taking part who had qualified from area events and trials included Newington and Hecklegirth from Annan, Moffat, Loreburn and Laurieknowe from Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Penninghame and Rephad Primary School from Stranraer.
The event which is part of the Primary Schools PEPAS sporting calendar across the region saw children take part in numerous track events including short and middle distance, relay races, obstacle relay and field events including standing long jump, vertical jump and the speed bounce. The event was supported by students from sporting coaching courses at the college.
Newington Primary came first with 163 points followed Moffat Primary School with 142 points. Penninghame Primary School came third with 101 points.
