The first of the season’s cup competitions gets under way this Saturday in South football with six league cup ties scheduled to be played.
St Cuthbert Wanderers travel the short distance to play Creetown at Castle Cary Park and although the young home side are expected to put up a good show the visitors may just be too strong and experienced for them on this occasion.
The Crichton versus Abbey Vale tie looks like one that could go the distance and one that could probably take more than the regulation 90 minutes to find a winner, although home advantage may be the deciding factor.
Fleet Star play hosts to Mid-Annandale and the Gatehouse side could possibly be the happier of the two teams come the end of this match.
Heston Rovers entertain Newton Stewart at Palmerston Park for another match that looks like it could go close with both sides more than capable of progressing in this particular competition.
Edusport Academy travel to play Lochar Thistle and are expected to record a victory while the match at Moffat between Upper Annandale and Nithsdale Wanderers is another contest that could go either way.
There is one South of Scotland League match being played when Dumfries YMCA have Wigtown and Bladnoch as their visitors for a match the visitors are expected to win quite comfortably.
