Former Portpatrick Dunskey golfer Gillian Paton, nee Monteith, has been picked to golf for Scotland.
Twenty-five-year Gillian, who now plays out of the Royal Montrose Golf Club, has been selected to represent Scotland in the Ladies Home International matches at Royal Wimbledon on September 9th-11th.
Gillian was well known as a golfing prodigy in her youth around the fairways of the golf clubs of Galloway and, a few years ago, won a scholarship under the Nick Faldo Foundation to travel to Brazil to play. She has been playing golf since she was at primary school having been introduced to the game by her father Jim, who is also a keen player.
Now married and living and working on the east coast, Gillian commented: “Absolutely delighted to be selected to represent Scotland at the Home Internationals this year at Royal Wimbledon. Been a long road to this point.
“A few people to thank for this achievement! My husband Azzie Paton, my coach Ross Aitken and all my friends and family who have had an influence along the way.”
