Only one match managed to survive last Saturday’s adverse weather conditions and that was the South of Scotland League encounter at Sanquhar between the Wanderers of Nithsdale and St Cuthbert, where the visitors eventually ran out comfortable winners 4-1.
Saints had two on-loan players from Annan Athletic within their ranks with youngster Ally Barnes making his debut and taking his place alongside striker Andew Donely.
It was Donely who opened the scoring when he found the net after 10 minutes but seven minutes before the break Liam Fleming levelled the match to send the teams in at the break all square. The deadlock prevailed until the 77th minute when Ryan McKie scored Saints’ second and, five minutes later, Donely secured the points with a third before youngster Barnes found a fourth five minutes from time.
The three points won in this match keeps the Kirkcudbright side in clear third place in the league table behind Stewartry neighbours Threave Rovers and leaders Dalbeattie Star.
