St Cuthbert Wanderers kept up their winning ways against Fleet Star with a 2-1 victory. Phil Middlemass gave Saints a slender one goal advantage by the break, with striker Craig Rudd adding a second six minutes from time.
In the final actions of the match, Corrie Thomson was pulled down by Adam Johnstone in the box and was red-carded for his efforts before Nathan Thomson stepped up to score for the visitors.
At Galabank Mid-Annandale also recorded a 2-1 victory over Lochar Thistle. They went ahead after only three minutes when Keiron McKie scored an own goal. Iain Anderson levelled the match in the 12th minute and a Connor Murray free kick put the home side ahead again before the break.
Crichton beat Abbey Vale at New Abbey by the odd goal in five, with Lee Malin putting the visitors ahead in the 17th minute. The game was level in the 24th minute when David Ruddock scored an own goal, but Vale’s joy was short-lived with Clark Chambers restoring the visitors’ lead three minutes later to give Crichton a slender advantage going into the break.
Five minutes from the end of the match Mark Leighfield scored the goal for Crichton that eventually proved to be the winner, with Chris Mellon pulling a goal back for Vale two minutes later.
Mids had several good chances in the second half but could not add to their lead, mainly through the performance produced by Lochar’s 17-year-old keeper Andrew who denied the home strike force on several occasions to keep the scoreline at two goals to one.
A hat-trick from prolific striker Roman Soltys ensured that Nithsdale Wanderers progressed in the South Regional Challenge Cup at the expense of Wigtown and Bladnoch who failed to find the net.
