With the football season in the South beginning to reach its climax there are six South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played this Saturday and another on Wednesday evening.
Title favourites St Cuthbert Wanderers travel to Sanquhar to play Nithsdale Wanderers for a match the visitors should win to maintain their drive for the championship title.
Creetown play hosts to neighbours Fleet Star for a match that could go either way while Crichton entertain Upper Annandale at Hospital Park for another contest that looks to be evenly matched. Dumfries YMCA are still looking to get off bottom spot in the table but may well have to wait a bit longer as they could well find it difficult to take anything form their match against Heston Rovers. Newton Stewart and Lochar Thistle lock horns at Blairmount Park for another match that looks to be fairly even although the Creesiders with home advantage may just have the edge this one. Present champions Wigtown and Bladnoch play hosts to Abbey Vale at Trammondford Park for a match the home side are expected to take the three points from.
There is also a third round Challenge Cup tie match being played at Lockerbie where Mid-Annandale and Edusport Academy met each other to see who progresses further in this particular competition. On Wednesday evening St Cuthbert Wanderers have the opportunity to add to their already impressive points tally when they play Mid-Annandale.
