Superclass BMX Racer and BMX Coach Josh Hanlon is delivering free coaching sessions on Saturday 30th July at Newton Stewart Centre.
If you’re interested in BMX riding and racing, then you won’t want to miss this fantastic opportunity being hosted by Newton Stewart Initiative. It’s a chance to receive professional BMX coaching from one of the country’s leading Superclass BMX racers and experienced BMX coach Josh Hanlon and, best of all, it’s free to take part. There will also be professional BMX bikes and helmets available so even if you don’t have a BMX bike you can still have a go.
Nathon Jones, Project Co-ordinator with Newton Stewart Initiative, said: “As I’m sure most people will already know we are currently fundraising to develop Douglas Park in Newton Stewart.”
“Part of that development includes a regional standard BMX track so we wanted to kick start our planned programme of BMX coaching whilst we work to pull in the additional funding we need so that, once the track is ready, we’ll have a group of skilled BMX riders ready to take full advantage of the new facility.”
“We are also looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people to help set up a BMX / Cycling club in Newton Stewart to support the track development and our local riders who we hope, one day, will represent us at regional and national BMX race events.”
Also attending the event this weekend will be representatives from Scottish Cycling, Scottish Regional BMX Racing, Kirkcowan Cycles, The Galloway Hillbillies and The Break Pad plus there’s a chance to see the plans for the new BMX track so it will be a really interesting and fun afternoon for all those attending.
The event starts at 12noon with coaching sessions kicking off from 1:00pm.
