In the end it was the combination of John Furey and Louise Kerr who just pipped the father and daughter pairing of Neil and Alison Fyfe 8-7.
The Fyfes got into a commanding position, at 7-3 ahead after five ends, but Furey and Kerr plugged on doggedly and scored a two in the sixth, stole a two in the seventh and, in the last end, managed to get a shot stone on the four foot and hidden. Neil and Alison both tried valiantly to get to the button but were thwarted by a wall of guards.
John, who curls out of Greenacres, and Louise will now represent Ireland in the World Mixed Doubles Championships back at Dumfries Ice Bowl from April 23-30.
