Three matches survived the wet weather last Saturday and they all included the top four teams with three of them taking another three points.
League title favourites Wigtown and Bladnoch beat a struggling Abbey Vale 5-0 at Trammondford Park, thanks to a hat-trick from Jamie McHarrie and two goals by Ian Millar.
St Cuthbert Wanderers also notched five goals in their encounter with Lochar Thistle.
And present leaders Newton Stewart beat Nithsdale Wanderers 3-0 at Sanquhar.
At St Mary’s Park, Kirkcudbright, Saints were held until almost the half-time whistle but striker Craig Rudd broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute, with Grant Middlemass doubling the scoreline right on the whistle.
Struan Parker added a third four minutes after the restart and Rudd scored his second and his team’s fourth in the 74th minute. Stephen Degnam grabbed Saints’ fifth with three minutes left to play after Lochar had scored a consolation goal.
Newton Stewart travelled to Sanquhar to play Nithsdale in a match that was a potential banana skin for the league leaders with them being beaten at Blairmount earlier in the season 3-2 after leading 2-0 at half-time.
The first half of this match was fairly even, with chances at both ends but with 58 minutes played Johnny Fisher was tripped in the box and Dean Thomson converted from the penalty spot to break the deadlock.
In the 73rd minute, Liam Muir scored a second for the Creesiders after turning his defender to slide the ball under keeper James Grozier. Chances opened up for the visitors as Nithsdale went all out to try and claw back the deficit but with 90 minutes played Newton substitute Jason Gallacher pressurised keeper Grozier as he attempted a clearance and the ball came off Gallacher’s legs and ended up in the back of the net to complete the scoring.
