New strip unites Leswalt and Portpatrick

The partnership schools of Leswalt and Portpatrick are starting the 2016 football season with some brand new football strips and new sponsors.

Leswalt Primary footballers are delighted that they now have a new football strip, sponsored by Mr Anthony Reid of Reid’s accident repair centre. Portpatrick Primary are excited to be sponsored by The Portpatrick Hotel.

For some football tournaments, the two schools play as one team. Leswalt have red sweatshirts, and Portpatrick have blue sweatshirts. This new strip combines both school colours, so they can play together as one united team – but still have their own school identity with the school badge and own sponsor evident.

Phil Newall came from Portpatrick Hotel to have his photograph taken with the footballers.

Mr Reid came into Leswalt school to get his photograph taken with some of the footballers from Leswalt. Also in the photo is young Gregor Reid, in Primary 2. And, as Mr Reid has three sons who will all attend Leswalt Primary the Reid boys will be wearing the school strip with extra pride – hopefully for years to come.

The new strips will be worn for the first time this week as Leswalt/Portpatrick United are in action in the newly formed winter league which will be played at the 3G pitch, under the supervision of Allan Jenkins.

Mrs Baillie, headteacher of both Leswalt and Portpatrick Primary schools admits that football management is not one of her strengths - but does hope that the new strip does bring the team lots of luck!
