There were surprises galore in Wednesday evenings South of Scotland League matches when newcomers Lochmaben beating Upper Annandale by two goals to nil at Moffat and Wigtown and Bladnoch taking three goals from Threave Rovers with only one in return.
Wigtown scored three goals in a first half ten minute spell with Blair Dougan finding the net in the seventeenth minute followed by Lewis Dunn seven minutes later. Dougan scored again to give the home side a three goal advantage at the break. Ben Irving scored what proved to be a consolation goal in the sixty sixth minute.
Creetown defeated Newton Stewart with two first half goals from striker Micky Sutherland on a very windy Castle Cary pitch while Mid-Annandale continued in their winning ways by beating Dumfries YMCA by eight goals goals to nil. Benjamin Wagner scored four for the Lockerbie side with Dean Smith adding a brace and Nathan Muir from the penalty spot and Andrew White making it eight. Edusport Academy beat Heston Rovers by the odd goal in five while Nithsdale and Abbey Vale fought out a nine goal contest at Sanquhar with the home side coming out on top by the odd goal. Lochar Thistle went down fighting by five goals to three in their match against champions St Cuthbert Wanderers although they took the lead through Ryan Coates. Jack McMurdo equalised but Coates restored the home sides lead before an own goal sent the teams in at the break all square. In the second half Saints came out with all guns blazing and Scott Alexander scored a brace with Scott Milligan adding a single before Ross Woodward scored a late goal for Lochar to complete the scoring.
