Many Mavericks achieved their personal best times over the four strokes and scores were equal with the Alligators until the final few races. The end result was a win for the Alligators but by only one race.

Club Chairperson, Andrea Williams, said she was delighted by the way the Mavericks and the Alligators had performed and had provided their audience with a thrilling and impressive swimming contest. A spokesman from the Annan squad fully endorsed Andrea’s comments and thanked the Mavericks for their hospitality which he promised the Alligators would return within the next few months.

The Merrick Mavericks face their next set of races in the Guid Nychburris Swimming Gala held in DG One this coming week. Members also make up school relay teams from Port William Primary School and the Douglas Ewart High School at this event.

The Merrick Mavericks Swim Club continues to be a well respected swimming team in the community, with members representing both the Club and local schools at regional and national events.
