The Solway League is a competitive swimming league between all the clubs in Dumfries and Galloway. Merrick Mavericks finished an impressive second in the league, which includes Annan Alligators, Dumfries Dolphins, Stewartry Seals, Kirkcudbright Otters, Merrick Mavericks and Stranraer Stingrays.

Maverick swimmers from the ages of 8 to 17 years took part in the league, with many achieving fantastic personal bests. The last gala for the Mavericks was held on Sunday February 14 at Kirkcudbright against the Otters, with the Mavericks securing a valuable away win by 10 points.

Mavericks Coach Christine McClymont said: “I am really proud of all our swimmers. They all swam their absolute best for the club, with exemplary conduct and fantastic team spirit.

“It is great to the Solway League get back up and running after a few years off, and we look forward to building on our success in next year’s league.”
