THREE local runners completed the annual Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon at the famous Northamptonshire race circuit last weekend.
Jude Murdoch from Wigtown, her elder brother Peter Anderson who is now based in Bedfordshire and recently returned from serving in Afghanistan and Bruce McKenzie from Kirkcudbright made the journey to the track along with 10,000 others to raise money for charity by running the 13.1-mile course.
Just over 6,000 runners finished with many bowing out thanks to the unseasonal hot weather which was not forecast and which claimed hundreds of participants who succumbed to heat stroke. The three locals made it home with times between 2hrs 06secs and 2hrs 42secs.
The trio raised hundreds of pounds for The Stroke Association following family experiences of the condition and thank all who donated.
