Two St Medan lady golfers are looking forward to their trip to Dalmahoy next month to take part in the Daily Mail Women’s Foursomes finals.
Liz Maiden from Port William, who plays off a handicap of 10 and Evelyn McLellan from Stranraer, who plays off 15, are thrilled to have qualified for the final stages out of around 3000 clubs nationwide who entered.
The pair of keen golfers battled their way through to the last 16 after playing qualifying rounds at Thornhill, Kirkcudbright, Stranraer, Moffat and Irvine.
They will now be up against golfers from as far away as Northampton, Sherbourne, Woburn, The Vale of Glamorgan and Thirsk as well as clubs nearer to home like Gourock, Irvine and Linlithgow.
Evelyn said: “We will be up against so many other teams so we’ll just hope for the best. It will be hard to get to the quarter-finals never mind the semi-finals and final. We are just chuffed to bits we have got this far!”
The competition starts on Sunday, October 12 and finishes on Tuesday, October 14.
St Medan are drawn to play Irvine in their first game.
