Leaders lock horns in title decider

There is no doubt of the match of the day this Saturday with league leaders Newton Stewart locking horns with second placed Wigtown and Bladnoch at Trammondford Park.

This match could be a possible league title decider with the victors obtaining a huge advantage over their opponents with only a few matches left to play.

Home advantage favours Wigtown but both sides are playing well at the moment and this contest could go either way with more than a few goals to keep the expected large support happy.

Third placed St Cuthbert Wanderers are expected to give their goal difference a boost when they travel to play bottom placed Dumfries YMCA while Upper Annandale will start as favourites to take the three points from their match against Nithsdale Wanderers at Moffat.

Heston Rovers entertain neighbours Crichton at Palmerston Park for a match on present form the home side should take the points from. Creetown play hosts to Lochar Thistle at Castle Cary Park for what could well be a close run match.

Creetown have showed some great improvement of late although going down heavily last weekend against Edusport Academy and are more than capable of taking the three points from this encounter. Lochar on the other hand have settled well into South football and are a tough nut to crack and are expected to push the home side all the way. Abbey Vale have Edusport Academy as their visitors to New Abbey and although the home side are enjoying a good run of form they will have to be at their very best to subdue a lively and skilful Edu team.

There are four South of Scotland league matches scheduled to be played on the evening of Tuesday 7th April with Newton Stewart travelling to Lockerbie to play Mid-Annandale and St Cuthbert Wanderers and Wigtown and Bladnoch locking horns at Kirkcudbright.

Both these matches could have an influence on the destination of this season’s league title and both could go either way as the two home teams are more than capable of turning on the style on their respective home pitches against the two league title challengers. Heston Rovers play Creetown at Palmerston Park while Crichton entertain Edusport Academy.
