Preparations for this year’s Kirkcudbright half marathon, 11.2K Beeches run and Walk are well underway at Kirkcudbright Academy.
As ever, this involves many members of the school and local community coming together to plan the event which will be held on Saturday 24 May.
Recently appointed Rector at Kirkcudbright Academy, Anthony Tuffery said: “Planning and preparations for the Half Marathon had already started long before I took up post in December and I am enormously impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment across the whole school.
“I am looking forward to meeting the many members of our local community who give up their own time year after year to make the event such a success.
We are particularly grateful to all our sponsors as well as the Summer Festivities Committee, Kirkcudbright Rotarians, Police Scotland and local businesses for their ongoing support.
This kind of community partnership, which is so evident locally, is one of the most important factors in developing citizenship among the pupils at Kirkcudbright Academy.
The event also raises funds for the school to enable all pupils to participate in extra-curricular activities both within the school and further afield. This year we are looking forward to welcoming Colin Grant, Director of Education to start the runners off and to present the trophies to winning competitors.”
Entry forms for the event can be obtained by contacting the school on 01557 330440, firstname.lastname@example.org or downloaded from http://kahm.org.uk. Local organisations and individuals who would like to book a stall can also do so now.
