Kirkcudbright Otters Amateur Swimming Club recently held their annual club championships at Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool.
Forty-six swimmers participated in seven events. This was the culmination of a year where the swimmers all put in some extremely hard work to improve their technique, speed and stamina and this proved worthwhile with eight records broken by Stephen Dale-Sunley (5) and Euan Donald (3) and an incredible 135 personal bests set.
This bodes well for the coming season where the club will be competing against other regional swim clubs in the Solway League. This will give the swimmers the impetus to continue to improve.
Thomas Wright, former club captain and accomplished endurance swimmer, presented a new award to the club, the Thomas Wright Endeavour Award, to be presented to the swimmer or club member who through personal endeavour has shown the greatest improvement or made a significant contribution to the Club. The inaugural winner of the award was Tom Allan who improved his times across all his events.
The committee would like to thank all parents, helpers, sponsors and Colin Wyper and his team at Kirkcudbright pool for all their support over the past year.
There are a few places left for club membership. If you are interested in joining the Otters and would like a trial once the new season begins then please contact Phil Stewart on 07734487581 to discuss entry requirements.
