The South West of Scotland Horse Driving Club held their first driving event of the season at Bladnoch Park by kind permission of Wigtownshire Agricultural Society.

H & P Gillan, G & L Paterson, Carrs of Annan, Murray Farmcare, Tarff Valley, KW Alternative Feeds, AMC Plant Hire, Penkiln Sawmill and Wigtown Co-op all kindly sponsored the event.

The event started on the Sunday morning with the dressage kindly judged by Pam Taylor which was followed by the cones and marathon.

There were eight entries in the novice class which was very competitive. Gordon Watson took an early lead after dressage and cones but Judith Hunt drove a very good marathon posting some quick obstacle times to move up and win the class. Margaret Rogan finished close behind in second. David Hume was third and Gordon Watson in fourth. Debbie Finlay won the small pony class and Megan Dickinson-Hood won the junior class. The open class was very tight with each phase being won by a different competitor but eventual honours went to Carl Bevan from Shap who had the best dressage of the day. Drew Douglas was close behind in second and had the best marathon of the day. Zan Kirk finished in third place and had the best cones round of the day.
