Two teams from Galloway Branch of the Pony Club travelled through to St Boswells recently to take part in the Area 19 Quiz.
Each team was made up of four members of different ages and answered eight rounds of questions ranging from horse care to equestrian Olympics and Paralympics. They also completed a practical task. The Duke of Buccleuch Branch had a successful day with teams placed first, second and third out of the 16 teams entered.
The Galloway Rubies came sixth equal with 111 points and brought home lovely rosettes. They were Izzy Miller Smith, Carolyn Fisher, Mollie Miller Smith and Lucy Fisher. The Galloway Emeralds team was Kirsty Fisher, Anna Ramsay, Katie Marr and Holly Sproat, they weren’t placed but with a respectable 98 points did a good job representing the club at this event. Well done girls!
On Sunday, March 11 the club held an open clear round day at Cotland Farm, by kind permission of CFA Performance Horses. Members and non members came along and had a go at jumping whatever height they fancied. This was a good way to brush off some cobwebs and start off the show jumping season, everyone had a very enjoyable day. Thanks go to everyone who helped set up the course and dismantle it at the end. Special thanks to Debbie Gunby for taking money and handing out rosettes and sweeties and Angela Dalrymple for organising the catering which was very welcome indeed.
Our next open event is an Open Team Show Jumping Competition which will be held at Calgow Equestrian, Newton Stewart on Sunday, April 1.
