It was forecast rain but still they turned up in force with 13 players. Unfortunately the Dumfries side could only muster five players, so being the true sportsmen they are, Galloway offered up their spare team members and also helped bat and field for the Dumfries side in order to give them a game.
There was some fantastic bowling and batting throughout and Galloway’s newest member Murphy Maxwell took two wickets for five from his two overs.
Galloway captain Robert Ramsay (sponsored by king Street Dental) bowled well as always and led the team with great encouragement.
Lochlan Hughes and Mathew Robinson (both sponsored by Enigma) are the two most senior members of the team and Mathew batted well scoring seven runs along with Harry Cambell also scoring seven. Glen Montgomery (sponsored by Cam engineering) was asked to play for the Dumfries and Galloway side this year due to his efforts during the game and also last season. Dumfries’s Craig Penrice scored a whopping 15 runs and was well supported by Adam Gilliland and Grant Pethwick-Reetz.

Due to Galloway’s sportsmanship, providing players for Dumfries, the game was pretty evenly matched and the final result was a draw.
The two sides will meet again in a friendly today (Friday) at the Nunholm ground, so here’s hoping the weather stays on our side.
