The Galloway Harriers running club held their annual prize giving on December 13 at Glentrool.
The event comprised of a 5.5 mile run around Loch Trool for the adult runners and a shorter run for the junior members. The snow underfoot made for a challenging run with absolutely stunning scenery and runners and marshals alike enjoyed the event very much. The club then moved to the Glentrool school building where they had a good buffet and the prize giving. Prizes were given in various categories. Club coach, Adrian Leach from Kirkcudbright, was awarded the Morrow Cup for his coaching contribution to the club. Male athlete of the year was Peter Horsell from Newton Stewart and female athlete of the year was Frances Drummond from Stranraer. Frances was also club champion this year for her times over a number of races. Jim Howarth from Gatehouse was WMA winner with times compared with others of his age nationally. The winner of the Chip Cup for the races at Glentrool were Bronagh Beattie for the juniors and joint adults were Adrian Leach and Ian Hannah from Stranraer.
