St Cuthbert Wanderers moved to the top of the South of Scotland league with a stunning 10-2 victory over Annan Athletic.
Ross Hunter scored twice and Andrew Donley and Ian Miller were on the scoresheet as the Saints raced into a 4-1 half-time lead.
But they weren’t finished there as Donley and Miller went on to net doubles, whilst Craig Rudd, John Lowe, Ben Jaekel and Robert Paisley made it ten.
Sean Bell and Robert Hogg responded for the Annan youngsters.
The Wanderers have played two games more but now have a three-point lead at the top ahead of Bonnyton Thistle in second.
There was a ten-goal thriller between Mid Annandale and Abbey Vale at New King Edward Park.
The Vale raced into a two-goal lead after only ten minutes thanks to Kieran Pirrie’s effort and an own goal.
However, Mid Annandale – despite being down to ten men after Liam Gibson’s first-half dismissal – turned the game on its head with a double from Sean Dunbar and an effort from Dylan Neill.
Vale were also reduced to ten before Dylan Cairnie restored parity for the visitors to make it 3-3.
But further goals from Neill, Sam Copeland and Dean Smith put the Mids into an unassailable lead. Andy Gilston made it 6-4 with five minutes remaining to complete the scoring.
Martin Milne struck twice in Nithsdale Wanderers’ 4-0 win over Lochmaben at Lorimer Park. Declan Farrow and Ben Johnston were also on the scoresheet.
Threave Rovers beat Lochmaben 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to seal their place in the second round of the Cree Lodge Cup.
