Football back as Newton Stewart take on Stranraer Reserves
Football is back in the South of Scotland at long last.
With the easing of Covid restrictions clubs have finally been able to arrange friendlies.
Newton Stewart welcomed Stranraer Reserves to Blaimount Park where the sides fought out a 3-3 draw.
Elsewwhere Creetown were 5-2 winners over Crosshill Thistle while St Cuthbert Wanderers defeated Wigtown and Bladnoch 6-1 at St Mary's Park in the Jim Hyslop Memorial Trophy.
Competitive action resumes next month and local clubs now know who they will play in the early rounds of the South Challenge Cup, which features 161 Lowland, South, West and East of Scotland League sides
1st Round: Dalbeattie Star v Whitletts Victoria; Lugar Boswell Thistle v Wigtown and Bladnoch
2nd Round: East Kilbride Thistle v Newton Stewart; Bonnyton Thistle v St Cuthbert Wanderers; Lugar Boswell Thistle/Wigtown and Bladnoch v Heston Rovers; Lochar Thistle v Threave Rovers; Upper Annandale/Lesmahagow v Creetown; Muirkirk v Dalbeattie Star/Whitletts Victoria.
