Final event for carriage drivers

The South West of Scotland Horse Driving Club held its final competitive event of the season at Dalmakerran Estate, Tynron by kind permission of Terry Kirton and Mary Newbould. Everybody enjoyed the hospitality of our hosts and enjoyed spending the weekend in this lovely area in glorious sunshine. Our generous sponsors of the event were Terry and Mary.

The Dressage, judged by John Cowdery, and the cone driving took place on the Saturday afternoon. In the Open class Drew Douglas took an early lead and maintained this by driving the best marathon on the Sunday to win his class. Pat Gillan closely followed in second place and Carl Bevan took third.

The Novice Class was won by Janet Glendinning who won all sections of her class.

Aine Vance won the Junior Class. The Field Class was won by Carol Black who also had the best cones of the day having the only double clear.

The overall winner of the day with the lowest score was Drew Douglas which won him The Alex Jamieson Shield. Terry Kirton presented the following prizes:
