After a tough battle the young teenage crew brought there Peugeot 205 home first in their championship, taking away top championship points for the Peugeot Ecosse 205 Challenge.

Kirstie first took part in rallying last year when she sat with driver, David Crozier from Carlisle.

This year Garry (18) and Kirstie (17) will compete in nine rounds which make up the challenge along with the Jim Clark rally next month which is part of the Scottish Rally Championship in which the pair compete as juniors.

The young Duns driver and fellow rival, Sean Robson battled it out all day. Each taking seconds out of one another. Stage two seen Garry take nine seconds out of Robson giving him a slight lead. Robson fought back taking four seconds out of Pearson which meant the difference between the two was tighter.

Going into stage four Garry and Kirstie were in the lead by two seconds. Stage four seen Robson go off the road leaving Pearson and Marshall with a one minute lead over Steven Smith, sitting in second place.

Pearson and Marshall were first Peugeot home which allowed the pair to have a ceremonial champagne spray outside the Thistle hotel in Aberdeen.

Last year Pearson was no stranger to wins, for Kirstie, however, this was her first which meant she had to climb on top of the bonnet of the Border Rally Sport team car to spray her champagne with the help of the co-ordinator, DIGB.

"I am over the moon with the result Garry and myself had," said student, Kirstie. "It's been a tough day, the competition with Sean has made it all the more exciting.

"I am also so happy that we are one leading the championship and our aim is to stay there!"

Kirstie is definitely proving she has what it takes to be a very successful navigator, taking the ladies award from the Machars car club last year. She is known in rally circles all over as Kirsty Riddick's protg.

The next event that the duo will compete in is Garry's home event which is based around Duns. The Jim Clark Rally takes place next month and is part of the Hankook Scottish Rally Championship.
