There is second round tie in the Cree Lodge Cup being played on Friday evening in Lockerbie which is a local derby between Mid Annandale and neighbours Lochmaben.
Form would suggest a victory for Mids but being a cup tie anything can happen and the Burgh boys have shown that they are more than capable of causing an upset although it is the Lockerbie side who are expected to edge a victory.
St Cuthbert Wanderers take on Newton Stewart on Saturday at St Marys Park in the same competition and this is a contest that could go either way.
Being the 5th of November this is a match that could be a cracker and it could well take more than the regulation 90 minutes to find a winner in what could well be a fairly high scoring match with both teams on fire and banging in the goals in recent games.
There are also five South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played with league leaders Wigtown and Bladnoch playing in a local derby against Creetown at Castle Cary park in a match that they will start as strong favourites to continue their unbeaten run and add another three points to their already impressive tally.
Abbey Vale are expected to take the points from their match against Dumfries YMCA at New Abbey while the Dumfries derby where Lochar Thistle play hosts to local rivals Heston Rovers at Maxwelltown High School is a contest that could go either way.
Nithsdale play hosts to Edusport Academy at Sanquhar with the visitors favourites to record a victory and Threave Rovers look the more likelier of the two teams to win the match at Moffat against Upper Annandale.
The semi final of the Alternate Cup takes place at Lockerbie on Wednesday evening when Mid Annandale and Lochar Thistle lock horns for a place in the final of this new South competition that involves teams not included in the William Hill Scottish Cup competition with the home side possibly edging a positive result.
