Curlers hoping for Turkish delight in Aberdeen

Junior curlers from Wigtownshire are battling it out for the Scottish Junior Curling Championships in Aberdeen this week for the glittering prize of a trip to Erzurum in Turkey for the world junior curling championship.

In the boys competition, Bobby Lammie and Gregor cannon are playing this year with defending champion Bryce Mouat, and will start as one of the favourites to win the title.

Other Stranraer players taking part are Fraser Shaw, playing with Cameron Bryce and Euan Kyle, leading for Ross Whyte.

In the girls competition, there is an all Stranraer rink with Kara Compton, Beth Jamieson, Karlyn Lyon and 12-year old Robyn Munro at lead. Katie McMillan is playing with Ellie Hamilton and Jenni Cannon is the alternate for Amy Bryce.

The round-robin games begin today and the competition finishes on Sunday.

Team Mouat won ther early morning game 7-4.
