Whithorn Braveheart heavyweight boxer Connal McDonald is part of a nine-strong British team currently competing in the World Youth Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria,
Seventeen-year-old Connal earned his position in the team winning the Scottish title back in March, then winning the British title in April. Connal is due to compete in the heavyweight category on Thursday against the Australian champion.
Bravehearts coach Tom Jolly said: “Connal has put 110 per cent into his training for this event and he is in the best shape of his life, He faces the best heavyweight youth boxers in the world and he will stand toe to toe with them all one by one.”
The 2014 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships will take place from 10 to 25 April.The competition will serve as the sole qualifying event for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
