Winning the toss and putting the visitors into bat, skipper Pat Druce along with Wigtown's Will Gorman opened the bowling but the game was plagued by intermittent rain showers which brought the players off the field on a couple of occasions, reducing the allotted overs.
The first bowling change brought Kirkcudbright's Chris Foster into the attack who concentrated on bowling full length with devastating accuracy. The Partick batsmen were shell shocked as wicket after wicket fell to the hostile six footer who finished with career best figures of 7-29.
Pegging the run rate back at the other end were junior stars, Fraser Conn and Anthoney Hullet, who both attend the Western Academy of Cricket.
Mustering a measly 110 runs, Partick were really under the cosh and a big defeat looked to be on the cards. Skipper Druce top scored for Galloway with 25 but the rest of the team collapsed in dramatic style, slumping to 83 all out – 27 runs adrift.
Next up for Country Style are the Glasgow Accies away. The 2nd X1 entertain Alps at the Cally ground this Saturday, 1pm start.
