Chasing pack aim to close gap on leaders

There are five South of Scotland League matches scheduled to be played this Saturday.

And with Wigtown and Bladnoch having a rest day, it will give the chasing pack an opportunity to make up some ground on the leaders.

There is a bottom of the table contest at Gatehouse where Fleet Star play hosts to Abbey Vale for a match that could see the points being shared.

St Cuthbert Wanderers will be strong favourites to take the three points from their match against bottom-placed Creetown, while Heston Rovers will be likewise when they meet Mid-Annandale at Palmerston Park.

Lochar Thistle and Crichton lock horns in a derby match at Maxwelltown High School in a match that could go close although the visitors may well be the slight favourites going into this one.

Newton Stewart will officially open their new 3G pitch to the public this weekend when they entertain Nithsdale Wanderers, who will be on a high following their very good victory over Lochar in Dumfries last time out.

The Creesiders, though, will be keen to make amends for last Saturday’s poor showing against St Cuthbert Wanderers so it is anticipated that a good and entertaining match is in prospect.
