Busy week of football ahead

There are another 14 South of Scotland League matches scheduled for the following week with half of them being played on Saturday and the other seven being played on Wednesday evening.

Creetown play hosts to Mid-Annandale and with the Ferrytoon side having strengthened this season this match could go either way although home advantage may just see the home side start as favourites to take the three points. Newton Stewart travel to Hamilton to take on newcomers Edusport Academy and will be keen to keep up their good start to the season ahead of their William Hill Scottish Cup Preliminary tie against East of Scotland side Hawick Royal Albert the following Saturday. Fleet Star and Crichton lock horns at Gatehouse for what could well be another even contest although the visitors might just have the fire power to take the three points from this encounter. High flying Lochar Thistle look too strong for neighbours Dumfries YMCA while St Cuthbert Wanderers should take the three points following their match against Nithsdale Wanderers at Sanquhar. League newcomers Upper Annandale are another team who have had a bright start to the season and they travel to Dumfries to play the YMCA team for a match it would be a surprise if they did not win. Wigtown and Bladnoch entertain Abbey Vale at Trammondford Park with the home side strong favourites to take the three points in what could well be a comfortable match for them. The matches scheduled for Wednesday evening look interesting with Wigtown and Bladnoch locking horns with local rivals Newton Stewart for the first time this season. Home advantage will make Wigtown favourites to take the points from this match but as usual when these two teams meet there should be plenty of excitement and skill on show to keep the spectators happy. Abbey Vale have Mid-Annandale as their visitors to New Abbey for a match the Lockerbie side look to be slight favourites while Creetown play Heston Rovers at Castle Cary Park for what should be a fairly even contest. Dumfries YMCA will not be relishing the visit of St Cuthbert Wanderers while Lochar Thistle will start as favourites for their visit to Gatehouse to play Fleet Star at Garries Park. Nithsdale Wanderers entertain Edusport Academy at Sanquhar with the high flying Upper Annandale playing hosts to Crichton at Moffat.
