NEWTON Stewart Bowling Club is holding an open evening for the public to try their hand and discover the lure of the game.
The club, which first opened in 1831, can be found next to Penninghame Church on the corner of Auchendoon Road and Church Street and support is desperately needed to maintain the club.
Anyone aged between eight and 80 are welcome to join in and try bowling as a passtime - with fresh air and a bit of exercise to boot!
There are also bags of bowls belonging to former members and the club would like these members to come back and play or collect their bowls.
The opening of the green for the 2012 season is Friday 20 April at 6.30pm.
This will be the 181st year of the green, so pop along and show your support.
