Woman struck by car in Stranraer hit and run

A woman in Stranraer avoided injury on Saturday after she was hit by a passing car which then drove off.

Police are searching for the motorist who fled the scene near the Harbour Street bus stop at around 2.10pm, leaving the 33-year old woman to be helped by her daughter.

The car was being driven by a female described as being about 5’5” tall, slim build, in her 30s with shoulder length blonde hair. The passenger was also female, again about 5’5” tall, medium build with long dark hair and was dressed in black.

Constable David Hanlon said: “We are keen to speak to the driver of this vehicle and to any witnesses who may have seen this collision. Police at Stranraer can be contacted through 101.”

In another hit and run crash in Stranraer, which happened at around 2.15pm on Saturday, a grey Vauxhall Insignia parked and outside Tesco in Charlotte Street, was struck from behind by a green/blue car only described as an old-style Vauxhall Cavalier.

Constable Scott said: “For some unknown reason the driver of this mystery car did not stop after the crash. I am appealing to anyone who may have been in this area and saw this crash to get in touch if they can assist us in identifying this vehicle and driver.”
