Whithorn Post Office is to move from its current George Street building into the nearby Costcutter store.
Services will soon be provided via an open-plan counter operation “designed to Post Office guidelines to ensure easy access and that there is adequate space for wheelchair users”, according to the Post Office.
The company said this week that all staff will be trained to Post Office standards and there will also be a hearing loop at the counter.
A spokesperson said: “Post Office services will be available during the store’s opening hours, 8am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The opening hours will increase by an extra eight hours a week, which will make the branch more convenient, offering people more choice of times to visit with earlier opening, no more lunchtime closures and service on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon.
The date for the relocation has yet to be confirmed and will be announced via posters in the current George Street branch.
